Role

 

Under close supervision in a team production environment, this position performs a variety of basic assembly tasks according to documented procedures and customer specifications.  Work performed may also include kitting, packaging, collating and other light manufacturing tasks.

  • Work from models, samples or simple diagrams to assemble a variety of components or subcomponents (e.g. rods, mounting brackets, tying wraps around motors); rotate through different tasks and work stations on assembly line as needed
  • Positions and aligns parts in specified relationship to one another; use jigs, fixtures or other holding devices as needed
  • Prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, identifying parts required, retrieving parts from staging area, and ensuring parts are present and free from manufacturing defects prior to assembly
  • Attend to quality throughout the various stages of assembly tasks; Trouble shoot and resolve production issues as they arise, stopping process as needed to prevent further quality errors
  • Maintain safe, clean and organized work station in fast paced or high volume production environment
  • Share parts and work together with peers as necessary in completion finished goods
  • Report issues to supervisor as needed (e. g. flawed parts, safety concerns)

Physical Requirements and Demands:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time and move between work stations
  • Manual dexterity to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, assemble or pack objects
  • Near vision and color vision to read or match assembly drawings/documents, discriminate parts, etc.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instruction in completion of work in a team environment
  • May occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and push or pull using mechanical aid

 

Tools & Equipment:

  • Small hand tools common to light manufacturing (e.g. screw driver, pliers, tie wrap gun, arbor press)
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary

 

Potential Hazards:

  • Frequent disruptions and changes to work flow or production demands
  • Exposure to loud noises
  • May be exposed to blood or bodily fluids
  • May be exposed to difficult behaviors including verbal and physical aggression

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

 

Minimum Education and/or Experience:

 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

 

Other:

  • Ability to meet any applicable background checks requirements of the Organization or position
  • Ability to be flexible to work effectively in changing environments and adapt to production demands
  • May be required to adjust schedule to accommodate part shipments, potential weekend shifts
  • Ability to interact respectfully with a diverse array of co-workers and customers with varying abilities, cultures and backgrounds
  • Ability to meet established performance standards
  • Ability to apply training received, accept performance feedback, and attend to development areas
  • Ability to count parts and identify whether correct parts are present to complete work
  • Ability to identify flawed product and troubleshoot production problems as appropriate
  • Ability to identify or demonstrate understanding of how steps work in relation to one another
